About

I was born in Pocatello, Idaho. It was a good place to grow up in the 1950s. I lived in Las Vegas, NV, for over forty years.  Both locations have influenced my writing.  I was once asked why I use Idaho and especially Pocatello in my books.  A writer is always encouraged to write about what he knows.  In my case, that is where I lived, where I grew up, and where the foundations of my sense of right and wrong were formed.  In Las Vegas, I grew as an adult as the city grew and matured.  When I moved to Las Vegas in 1968 with my mother, the population was 50,000.  We left and went back to Pocatello.  When I returned in 1978, the population was 220,000. When I left for Oregon in 2021, the population was over 2 million.  That kind of growth involves significant drama and change.  That also influenced my writing.  My books will tell you a lot about me.  But more than that, I hope they entertain.

WINTER’S BREATH

Wes Davis 2/2/2014

The cold North wind cuts through your coat like an icy dagger

The clear blue sky is deceptive and the sun’s warmth is brief

Taken from you like a purse by a thief running by as you stagger

Fighting the cold, and the wind and hoping for some relief

Breath freezes as it takes its leave of you, pausing as it falls to earth
